ADVENTURES IN SCOUTING!

TROOP 329

Have you ever dreamed of hiking the trails that were made by Indian moccasins hundreds of years ago; or of exploring rivers and streams in a silent canoe; of telling stories round the campfire with friends; or of sleeping out under the stars, and enjoying a breakfast the next morning that you cooked yourself?

The Boy Scouts of Troop 329 do exactly that.  You can have a lot of fun here, and you can learn a lot too:  like how to sharpen your knife, use an ax, rappel down a cliff, and follow a map & compass into the wilderness with a backpack.  How to apply first aid so that you can save the life of someone you know.  What to do if you encounter bears, rattlesnakes, or whitewater.

Scouting is a Sport.  The game of Scouting happens on two levels.  New Scouts learn the Scout skills you need to enjoy hiking, camping, and wilderness survival, which are fun, and require teamwork, and self-reliance.  Experienced Scouts learn to be Leaders by actually running the Troop.

Our Mission

Scouting is about more than just hiking and camping.
The Mission of the Boy Scouts of America is:

To prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

The Scout Oath:
          On my honor I will do my best
          To do my duty to God and my country
          And to obey the Scout Law;
          To help other people at all times;
          To keep myself physically strong,
          Mentally awake, and morally straight.

The Scout Law:
        A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful,
        Friendly, Courteous, Kind,
        Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty,
        Brave, Clean, & Reverent.

The Scout Motto:      Be Prepared

The Scout Slogan:     Do a Good Turn Daily

The Outdoor Code:
        As an American, I will do my best to

        Be clean in my outdoor manners,

        Be careful with fire,

        Be considerate in the outdoors, and

        Be conversation minded.

...So our purpose is to train Scouts to be good citizens, who will Be Prepared to become Leaders in the Community.
