Frequesntly Asked Questions

Cub Scout Pack 354 FAQ’s:

 1) What is Cub Scouts?

Cub Scouts belong to a Pack. Cub Scouts are placed in smaller groups called dens with other boys in the same grade, usually from the same school.

Cub Scouts learn fun things and get to go to fun places with your den. You build things, like race cars, you learn the meaning of the  Scout Oath and Law, a secret handshake and lots more fun things!

Lets Go Cub Scouting!

2) How do I register?

See the home page for links to the 2 forms you need to complete for each boy registering.  You’ll need the YOUTH APPLICATION and MEDICAL FORM.  Instructions are also on the home page.

 3) How are boys grouped?

Scouts are grouped by grade level:

1st grade = Tiger

2nd = Wolf

3rd = Bear

4th = Webelos I

5th = Webelos II

We do not take “friend” requests.  One of the benefits of Cub Scouts is making new friends.  We randomly place boys into dens of 5-9 scouts.

4) Is being a Den Leader time consuming and hard?

Being a Den Leader does require some time commitment, but it is completely feasible whether you work full-time or not.  Our leaders range from parents that work full time to those that stay home and care for their children.  The Committee Chair can help you plan out your year.  It’s fun to have a co-leader too!

If considering being a den leader, please keep in mind that it is a 5 year commitment (Tiger-Webelos II) If you can no longer be a den leader, please find a parent in your den that can take your position as a den leader.

The Committee Chair is always available to help with questions or concerns you may have.

5) Can I choose who is in my Den?

NO, we don’t take “friend” requests.   Cub Scouts is a place for all boys to make new friends with a shared interest of scouting.  It may seem scary at first to join an unfamiliar group, but you and your scout will soon find they have great friendships!

6) Where do we meet?
Troops and Packs in San Marino are fortunate to have their own "Scout House". The Scout House is located in 1196 St. Albans Rd. in the St Albans Rd parking lot of Lacy Park. Although it is in Lacy Park, this scout house was left by the Valentine Family to be used by San Marino Boy Scout troops.

7) Can girls join Pack 354?
Our pack will remain a single-gender pack (boys). You can check with the Boy Scouts of America, Greater Los Angeles Area Council and see if they have any girl packs in the area.
