The Regatta boats can be purchased at the scout store in Santa Rosa. The Regatta will take place at our September Pack Meeting.
This is a time to let your scouts creativity SHINE. Scouts are encouraged to go where their imagination takes them when decorating their boats.
Pack 1 is excited to host our 5th Annual Regatta Raingutter Derby. This year every scout who enters the derby will receive a Regatta patch for their red "brag" vest.

Rain Gutter Regatta
Rules
- The sail cannot be larger than the one supplied in the kit.
- Raingutter Regatta® Racing Trimaran Kit will be used by all scouts.
- The hull, mast, and sail provided in the kit must be used; however, the corners of the sail can be modified. See the tips below.
- The keel and rudder cannot be modified.
- The sail may be glued to the mast or held in place with tape.
- Each boy will race once. If time permits twice.
- Straws will not be allowed.
- Boys cannot touch their boats during the race. Only Adult Leaders will be allowed to “upright” boats during a race.
Tips
- The lighter the boat the faster it will go; however, it can be less stable.
- Blowing it typically not a matter of how hard, but how straight.
- Consistent blowing is better than large puffs.
- Ensure your sail is at least ½” off the deck and clip or round the bottom corners of the sail. This keeps the sail from rubbing against the side of the gutter which can cause the boat to drag or get hung.
- The flatter the hull the more stable the boat will be. Stability is a key to winning the race. If you prefer disappointment, round the sides of the hull.
- Some have had success with in placing a groove in the bottom of the boat to help keep the boat going straight.
- Position the keel ¾” to 1” behind the mast hole.
- Position the rudder close to the rear edge of the keel.
